Studies have shown that physiotherapy and strengthening exercises for poly neuropathy moderately improve muscle strength in people with poly neuropathy. In addition, exercises to help poly neuropathy, when done regularly, may reduce neuropathic pain and can help control blood sugar levels, which is essential in diabetic neuropathy.

While treating poly neuropathy it is essential to work on improving joint range of motion, which could be achieved by combination of passive movement, progressive stretching and self-stretching.  Studies have also shown hydrotherapy is commonly used in treatment of polyneuropathy as this helps in reducing neuropathic pain, improving muscle strength and stamina without adding excessive pressure on joints.

Along with use of weight for strengthening exercises, it important to incorporate isometric and balance training activities to improve core stability, which prevents falls. Research have also shown the use of splints and brace will enhance the posture and improve mobility with poly neuropathy.  The commonly used splinting intervention in poly neuropathy is splinting for treatment of compression neuropathies i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome.
